Before a single pedal stroke was taken, the adventure had already begun – and not everyone could make it to the line. Accidents, illness and family matters kept some riders from joining the journey.
But on Saturday morning, in the early light of Tangier, five bikes stood ready.
Five riders. Five loaded bikes. One enormous adventure ahead.
We rolled away from the Mediterranean and headed straight into the Rif Mountains – leaving behind the city, the familiar and everything that could be planned.
Ahead lie steep climbs, rough gravel roads, remote villages, dust, heat, dunes and countless kilometres of Morocco.
For now, there is only the road ahead.
