Askan finished in 5 days and 13 hours

Askan von Schirnding finished tonight 22:49 the 2113km road route with 22’000vm in 5 days and 13 hours. He cycled 381km per day. Congratulations Askan for this big effort! Well done!

day 6: 160km no services

Lamri and Irena arrived this afternoon at Boudnip and continued to Merzouga. A 160km Moroccan piste without any services.
Francisco had mechanical problems and went by car back to Missour to solve it. The wheel was bent and the cassette not working anymore. He is meanwhile back on route.

Askan has only 90km left to the finish in Sidi Ifni. If everything goes well, he will finish the 2100km in less then 7 days.

Day 4 of the Morocco-BikeAdventure 2021

At day 3 Kevin got sick and went off route to stay at a hotel. He is back in this morning in 2nd position on the piste route. Irena is leading the piste route. Lamri and Peter went last night also off the route to stay in a hotel and are now on their way to checkpoint 2 the Ahouli mines.

Askan cycled on the road route already more then 1400km and has less then 700km to go. He could arrive at the finish in Sidi Ifni in 2 days.

Day 3 of the Morocco-BikeAdventure 2021

It’s day 3 and all riders are still on the route.

Askan is leading on the road route and has already more then 800km cycled. He is in the Middle Atlas and will reach checkpoint 3 “Valée de Ziz” a palmtree oasis in the Sahara desert soon. Jamie is 160km behind Askan followed by James another 150km behind.

On the piste route are the distances between the 3 leading riders not that big. Peter is currently in lead, followed by Irena and Lamri about 10 minutes behind Irena. 20km behind Lamri is Kevin in 4th position followed by Francisco 60km behind.

9 riders left Tangier yesterday morning

9 riders left Tangier yesterday morning for the 2nd edition of the Morocco-BikeAdventure. 4 of them take the new road route to Sidi Ifni and the other 5 the demanding piste route.

Only 8 weeks…

Only 8 weeks until the start of the second edition of Morocco-BikeAdventure. You have to realize this is a really hard journey. Be prepered for anything, when Kai Edel was checking the route in February 2020, he came into severe sandstorm in the Sahara desert.

Jebel Bani mountain range

The Morocco-BikeAdventure route offers landscapes you may never seen before. The piste route takes part of sections of the famous Paris-Dakar race and the road route follows nearby paved roads.

Donncha Cuttriss has a job to finish

Donncha Cuttriss has a job to finish. 2019 he struggled with his tubeless setup in the Sahara desert and had to scratch. This time he will start at Irun for the Iberica Traversa and continue with the Morocco-BikeAdventure at Tangier.

Its a great adventure for anyone and also a serious test for any competitive racer who can hold it together physically and mentally for a few weeks, the time which it will take to finish the 3000 km of the optional long route. The route combines a diverse range of incredible scenery and surfaces including shifting desert sands, rough piste and gravel. Strategy, logistics, planning, adaptability and resilience will be needed as riders will be seriously isolated with few and meagre options for resupply in rural Morocco where on occasions you may only find a few packet of wafer biscuits and tins of tuna. Andi Buchs has put years of work into this race and has divised a route which is simply breathtaking. The best thing is that this event doesn’t attract too many entrants so participants can mostly enjoy the route and experience as if out there on her/his own. However, when you do meet another participant on the course its just beautiful.”
